Checking your Announcements

Follow these steps:

Announcements may be used by your instructors to send messages to the entire class.  Your recent announcements from any class you are taking will appear on your Canvas home page.  

  • Here we can see that there is 1 new announcement to read.  
  • By clicking on the announcement, you will be taken to the specific course and its announcements page.  The next step will show you how to access all the announcements for a given course.

Once inside a course, announcements for only that course will appear on the Course home screen.  To view all announcements for that course, click "Announcements" on the left navigation bar.

From the Announcements page we can: 

  1. Search for any announcement. 
  2. Filter by "Unread" announcements. 
  3. Subscribe to the RSS feed for the announcements. 
  4. Clicking on the announcement itself will take you into it for you to read.

By default, all students receive an email immediately when a professor makes an announcement through Canvas.  To change this setting, see the tutorial on notification settings.
