Objectives
Your goals for this week are:
1. Explain theories of the origin of the earth, atmosphere, and oceans.
- Describe development of our solar system, earth, atmosphere(s), and oceans
- State the basic outline of the Geologic Column or Time Scale from 4.6 billion years ago to today
- Explain radiometric dating and geo time scale
- Explain Absolute and Relative Dating
2. Describe the development of ocean knowledge from early voyages to modern times
- Understand diversity of sciences collected to form " oceanography"
- Understand development of oceanography as a science
- Understand significance of navigation in describing oceans and making maps
- Recognize the different types of Maps and Charts
- Work with Latitude and Longitude, Time, Navigation
